HeroTab C8 review – another quality android tablet bargain

Herotab C8 – Review

Mobile phones used to be bulky a decade ago. Now you use phones weighing less than 100 grams and without the annoying antenna. We used to have Floppy Drives with capacity storage of 2MB and now 100 times smaller Micro SD cards have are capable of storing 32 gigs of data. And now the latest fads are Android Tablets. With android tablets like the HeroTab c8 in the market, grabbing an android tablet for yourself makes all the more sense.

Have you ever dreamed about using a tablet at a lower price? When the word Tab or Tablet is heard the first thing comes to our mind is. After learning the price of the iPad, we drop the plan to buy it. Now, it is possible to own a tablet that gives the entire features set of iPad a run for its money; at affordable price that is.

One of the tablets that I know of, is HeroTab C8. The approximate price is $190 to $195 if you are intending to buy it online. The HeroTab C8 has a 7” capacitive multi-touch screen providing a resolution of 800 by 400. The processor is branded by Samsung with RAM size of 512 MB and provides internal memory of 4 GB which can be expanded up to 32 GB through Micro SD Card. It has Android 2.2, which can be upgraded to 2.3 through Google Android Market.

There are few pros and cons if you intend to buy the HeroTab C8. It completely depends on what are your expectations. The HeroTab C8 has a capacitive screen, which is a good thing as the touch experience would be great. To reduce the cost of tablets certain manufacturers go for resistive touch screens. Resistive Screen means you have to press hard on the screen to launch the application and scrolling through web pages or images is very difficult. Whereas in a capacitive screen there is no need for external stylus or gloves. You can scroll through images, web pages, eBooks, can zoom out or zoom in without any problem. This feature really makes HeroTab C8 worth the price tag.

With the 1 Ghz Samsung processor powering the HeroTab C8, response time of the tablet is very good with no lags. The internal memory is not much but there is always an option to expand up to 32 GB through external Micro SD card. It has HDMI and USB ports, so transferring the data from other devices (like PC / Laptop) is very quick. The most important feature I liked about the HeroTab C8 (I do not think any other tablet would give that) is that the tablet supports 3G enabled Dongle. You really do not have to sea dive for a Wi-Fi connection to browse the Internet anymore!

There are a few things, which you may really look into before buying this tablet. There is no GPS or Bluetooth in the HeroTab C8. I do not know how many people really use the Bluetooth feature in tablets and as such you are not missing much. The webcam is 1.3 megapixels, so quality may not be so good when compared to some of the higher end smartphones. As far as viewing on the screen of the HeroTab C8 is concerned, it is perfect when you use it indoor. The visibility of the HeroTab C8 is hampered when used outdoors. Lastly, if you are habituated to read eBooks in portrait view then the HeroTab C8 may not suit you as it gives better clarity in Landscape view and not portrait.

Herotab C8 -Conclusion

My verdict for the HeroTab C8 is: Buy it! The price point at which this thing is selling is compelling. The feature set provided by the HeroTab C8 is comprehensive and certainly worth a buy, just like the sylvania 10 inch android tablet!
