Superpad 10.2 review – read before you buy

Tablets PC’s are all the rage these days. With big ticket manufacturers like Apple and Samsung foraying into the tablet PC market, the popularity of the tablets is at an all time high. If you search for the keyword “Android Tab” or “Android Tablet” in any of the search engines, you will come across thousands of online retailers selling the tablets ranging from $200 to upwards of $500.

One of the tablets that I have come across is the Superpad 10.2. The Superpad 10.2 retails for under $200. Released in the year 2010, Superpad 10.2 has Android 2.1 OS. The size is 10.5” by 6.5” and weighs almost 3/4th of a KG. Size of the screen is 10.2” and gives you fantastic resolution of 1024 by 600. The name “Superpad 10.2” was given upon its screen size which stands at 10.2 inches. As in other tablets, the internal memory size is 4GB and can be expanded up to 32 GB through external micro SD card. Superpad 10.2 has a FlyTouch ARMII 1GHz processor. It can be connected to internet through Wi-Fi. It has a front facing in-built camera of 1.3MP and battery life is up to 3 hours.

There are a few good things I really liked about Superpad 10.2 are:

- Firstly, it has inbuilt GPS system. There are very few tablets PC that has GPS integrated in them. Superpad 10.2 has the GPS system (which works very well) with an external GPS antenna.

- The Second most amazing feature, which I really admire about the Superpad 10.2, is that it has 2 USB ports (not available in iPad / iPad2), HDMI output and Ethernet port. HDMI, headphone jack are common and are available in almost all the tablets. However, USB ports are something unique that are rarely seen. You can certainly attach your external keyboard, mouse and other device to Superpad 10.2. Moreover, Ethernet port means it can be connected to LAN. (Unique isn’t it?)

- 2 x memory slots make the Superpad 10.2 tempting to buy. Two memory slots will really help the tablet to be converted into high-end iPad. (No worries about space and storage)

- Last but not the least the looks of this tablet and the OS. As compared to the price you are paying for this tablet, the looks are far better and you will feel pride in carrying this tablet in your hand. Android user will enjoy the OS as they are already used to the software and what can you possibly need in a tablet other then Android!

Every coins has two sides if there are many good things there are few bad things as well (the decision is completely on the user as what they are expecting out of this product).

- Internal memory space is 4GB. The same what other tablet PC gives us but in Superpad 10.2 half of the memory space is occupied by the system software and inbuilt applications. This affect the reliability and usage of the phone as well as some application appears to crash while you are using it. (Things to note – why do we have 2 x Micro SD card slot then.). You may save other applications on external storage card.

- No Multitouch Screen: This is the feature is really missing in this tablet, as they do not have the Multitouch Screen. You cannot squeeze of expand the web page or images. It only has basic touch feature.

- Lastly the Battery life: The battery life last only for 3 hours (Not bad) but if, you are a full time traveler and do a lot of long journeys, you may think twice before buying Superpad 10.2.

The disadvantages are not worth considering as the price point at which the Superpad 10.2 sells is amazing! My verdict – Buy!
