Sylvania android tablet review – Hardware specifications
Sylvania android tablet review – Design
The Sylvania android tablet has a resistive touch screen. It’s not capacitive, so you will need to push down on it using your fingernail to move through the device. Although, it also comes with a stylus pen that you can use instead of your finger. The tablet has an 800 x 480 resolution screen. The viewing angels are pretty good for the Sylvania Android tablet, but of course it’s not ‘iPad quality’. One thing you may notice with the design of this tablet is that it is almost identical to the augen gentouch78 (body and shape wise). A benefit we have found to be is that it has a rubber back. We all know how useful a rubber back is for an excellent grip as well as protection of the device its self. It also gives it a more professional look and feel compared to having a inexpensive plastic back cover.
Sylvania android tablet review – Hardware Design, look and feel
All your ports are basically located on the right side of the device. What you have here is:
- mini SD-card slot
- mini HDMI-out
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- 2x mini USB ports
- power hole jack.
The mini SD-card slow can be used to place additional memory and allow the viewing of photos from your digital camera. The mini HDMI-out port allows the user to display their Sylvania android tablet on a HDMI supported output. For example, a TV or PC monitor. The 3.5mm headphone jack is just your standard headphone jack that’s used to listen to audio. Now this is where it gets good. The Sylvania android tablet features a USB On-The-Go port, meaning that you will be able to plug in a mouse and keyword to use on the device.
On the back of the device you have your speaker which is of average quality. On the side of the device is the included stylus pen which sits in a groove (kind of like the Nintendo DS). The last things I will cover in the hardware design of the Sylvania Android tablet is the reset button. It basically will work like a normal PC reset button, click it, and the device will reboot. Handy when Android isn’t doing its job and freeing memory automatically.
Sylvania android tablet review – Battery life
The Sylvania android tablet battery life will last around 5-6 hours on most occasions. Although you might find this length somewhat low, you have to keep in mind that this device is a mini tablet, and isn’t really designed to ‘take over your PC’ or anything of the sort.
Sylvania android tablet – User Interface / software
The Sylvania android tablet currently comes with the stock Android 2.1. The Sylvania android tablet user-interface definitely deserves credit. You have all your handy buttons such as home, wireless networks, camera, volume up and down, menu and a back button. As you can see from the image below, all these handy buttons are placed on top of the device making navigation swift and efficient for the user.
Out of the box, the device also comes with many widgets such as a world clock, calendar, a beautiful weather forecast and many other social networking widgets. The device also comes preloaded with about 10 android applications which include; alarm clock, calculator, sound recorder, SlideMe (an alternate android market!), contacts, iReader (to read books, just like the iPad), youtube, file manager, settings and wi-fi settings.

Conclusion
For the price of this device, it holds up exceptionally well. At the moment there are a few tiny flaws with the device but they are being quickly fixed by Sylvania. If you’re looking for a cheap, durable, android tablet then I would definitely recommend this. For watching movies and browsing the internet this device will surely not let you down. Don’t let the low price fool you, this android tablet has held up exceptionally well for me since I purchased it and hopefully continue to do so. Be sure to check out Amazon for Sylvania Android tablets , they currently sell it for the cheapest price. That’s my Sylvania android tablet review SYNET7LP 7-Inch Mini android tablet review.
